Network Topology
At Urbanbrain, our fully-redundant registry system is setup across two geographic locations, in an active/standby model, to mitigate against unforeseen disasters. Within each operation center, both network components and servers are either setup to failover or re-route traffic in the event of hardware failures, to guarantee maximum uptime.
We use Anycast DNS for best performance because it allows us to spread DNS traffic across several locations worldwide. Since DNS should be the most resilient part of your registry system, and required 100% uptime, we suggest you host your DNS with us, to save on overall costs and headaches.
Standard Registry
The following network topology diagram depicts our setup and should help you visualize what hardware is required to operate a domain registry system if you planning to host and operate your own system.
