ICANN has announced that it has successfully received 1,930 New gTLD applications in the first open round of the New gTLD program. Of those applications only 84 have been designated as “Community-Based,” and 66 are designated as geographic name applications.
Here is a breakdown of where the applicants are from:
- North America : 911
- Europe: 675
- Asia-Pacific: 303
- Latin America and the Caribbean: 24
- Africa: 17
ICANN has confirmed that 230 strings have multiple applications involving a total of 751 applicants.
